A DREAMY SUNRISE MATERNITY SESSION WITH SAMANTHA
For Samantha's maternity session, we did not have to choose just one version of the story. We started the morning at sunrise, which gave us the softest light and a quiet beach before the rest of the world really woke up. Samantha wore the cutest two-piece set, and between the dreamy morning light and that beautiful baby bump, every little moment felt effortless. And because maternity photos are about more than just documenting the bump, we also made sure to include her plus one.
A LITTLE TIME FOR MOM
I always love starting with a little time focused just on mom. There is so much happening during pregnancy, and sometimes it is nice to slow everything down and let the session be about you for a few minutes. Samantha looked absolutely beautiful. Her outfit was simple, feminine, and perfect for the beach, and the soft sunrise light did all the rest.
We moved around, played with the light, captured different angles, and let her settle into the morning rather than making every photo feel overly posed. Those little in-between moments are some of my favorites because they allow the photos to feel natural while still giving us those beautiful maternity portraits.
THEN CAME HER PLUS ONE
Of course, we could not let Samantha have all the fun by herself! Her plus one joined us for the second part of the session, and these two were just too cute together. There is something really sweet about photographing a couple during this particular chapter of their relationship. Not before long, their little family is going to look completely different. There will be tiny hands, sleepless nights, new routines, and so much love added to the mix. But right now, it is just the two of them waiting for the person who is about to change everything. So we captured that, too.The hugs, the smiles, the little looks at each other, and all those moments that happen naturally when you are celebrating something this exciting together.
WHY SUNRISE?
For a Miami beach maternity session, sunrise is such a beautiful option. The beach is peaceful and usually much quieter, and the morning light gives everything that soft, glowy look. There is also something about being out there early, before the day gets busy, that makes the whole session feel a little more intimate. And, of course, we get to beat the Miami heat. That's always a win in my book. Sunrise sessions do require an earlier alarm clock, but once you are standing on the beach with that beautiful light, I think it is easy to see why it is worth it.
LET THE SESSION FEEL LIKE YOU
One of my favorite things about maternity photography is that there really is no single way to do it. Maybe you want lots of photos of your bump and a few beautiful portraits just for you. Maybe you want your partner involved the entire time. Maybe you want a little bit of both, like Samantha did. You can change outfits, move around, laugh, take a quiet moment together, and let the session unfold naturally. The goal is not to create a bunch of photos that look perfect on paper. It is to create photographs that take you right back to this version of your family — before you met your little one, when it was still just the two of you waiting, wondering, and dreaming about who they would become. And Samantha's dreamy sunrise session gave us plenty of those moments to hold onto.
