Theo Turns One | A True Colors First Birthday Session
Our True Colors Sessions are some of our favorite sessions of the year. Captured in timeless black and white, these sessions are all about photographing your children exactly as they are in this season of life. Every August, just before the start of a new school year, we invite families into the studio to celebrate their little ones and all the personality that comes with growing up.
Celebrating One
For Theo, his True Colors Session was the perfect way to celebrate his first birthday. Turning one is such a sweet milestone. So much changes during that first year, and we loved getting to capture Theo right in the middle of this fun, curious, and personality-filled stage.
Bubbles, a Crown & One Balloon
Theo showed up looking so cute and cool in his outfit, ready for his big moment. We added a few simple props to celebrate his birthday: bubbles, a crown, and a big ONE balloon. The bubbles were especially fun and perfect for his age. They brought out those sweet little expressions and gave Theo something fun to explore and enjoy during his session.

That is what True Colors is all about. No complicated setups. Just timeless black-and-white portraits and the opportunity to capture your child exactly as they are right now.
One day, these little details will feel like a memory—the way they looked, the expressions they made, and all the personality they carried at this exact age. That is why I love these sessions so much. I had so much fun with Theo during his session, watching him explore, play with the bubbles, and show off his big personality.
And honestly, one of my favorite parts is seeing the parents enjoy the session too. There is something so special about watching them smile and laugh as they see their little one being completely themselves.
