To the Dads of The Loving Lens
Fatherhood is often found in the little moments.
The strong arms that carry sleepy toddlers after a long day. The hands that gently cradle a newborn. The laughter shared during a game of chase. The quiet reassurance of simply being there.
Over the years, I've had the privilege of photographing so many incredible fathers and father figures. While family sessions are often booked to celebrate milestones, growing families, and special seasons of life, they also become a beautiful reminder of the relationships that shape us every day.
This Father's Day, I'm celebrating the dads of The Loving Lens—the ones who show up, love fiercely, make their children laugh, and create memories that deserve to be remembered forever.
Here are just a few of the moments that remind me why these connections are so important to capture.
The New Dads
There is something truly special about witnessing a father hold his baby for the first time.
In those early days, everything is new. The sleepless nights, the endless snuggles, the overwhelming love that arrives alongside a tiny new life. What always stands out to me is how naturally fathers step into this role—protecting, comforting, and loving their little ones from the very beginning.
These moments pass so quickly, which is why I love documenting them. Years from now, these photographs will tell the story of where it all began: a new father, a new baby, and a love unlike anything either of them had ever known.
The Playful Dads
Every family has one.
The dad who can get the biggest laughs, tell the silliest jokes, and somehow turn an ordinary moment into an adventure.
Some of my favorite images happen when dads stop worrying about the camera and simply play with their children. Whether they're giving shoulder rides, chasing little feet across the beach, or sharing a belly laugh together, these moments are filled with so much joy and connection.
The beautiful thing about children is that they don't remember perfectly posed photographs. They remember how they felt. The safety, the laughter, and the fun. And when those moments are captured in a photograph, they become memories families can hold onto forever.
The Everyday Heroes
Fatherhood is made up of countless moments that often go unnoticed.
The early mornings. The bedtime routines. The piggyback rides. The helping hands. The hugs after a hard day.
These are the moments that shape childhood.
Dads have a way of making their children feel safe, supported, and loved. They teach confidence, encourage adventure, offer comfort, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Today, we're celebrating all the fathers who show up day after day with love, patience, and unwavering support. The dads who are there for the big milestones and all the ordinary moments in between.
You may not always realize the impact you're making, but your children do.
The Girl Dads
There’s a different kind of magic that happens between a father and his daughter.
It’s in the way she reaches for his hand without thinking. The way she lights up when he walks into the room. The way he instinctively becomes her safe place, her protector, and her biggest cheerleader all at once.
These moments are tender, playful, and full of love in a way that’s hard to put into words. You can feel it in the photographs—the trust, the comfort, the bond that grows stronger with every stage of life.
Watching these connections unfold during a session is always a reminder of just how deeply fathers shape their daughters’ world, simply by being present.
With Love to the Dads
As I look back through these images, I’m reminded of just how many different ways fathers show love.
In quiet moments and loud laughter. In gentle hugs and playful chaos. In newborn days that feel like a blur and in everyday routines that often go unnoticed.
Each of these photographs tells a small piece of a much bigger story—the story of connection, presence, and love that grows between a father and his children over time.
To all the dads, grandfathers, stepfathers, and father figures who have stepped in front of my camera over the years, thank you.
Thank you for showing up. For loving your children so fully. And for trusting me to preserve these moments for your families.
Happy Father’s Day.
